Donovan Gordon - Director

Retired, Director Emeritus of Clean Heating & Cooling and Community Thermal Networks at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).  Donovan led New York State’s efforts to develop markets for Heat Pumps, and Large-Scale Thermal projects including Large Buildings, Campuses, and Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) from 2015 - 2025.

Donovan developed and launched the Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) Incentive Program in 2017 which became the NYS Clean Heat Program (administered by the Joint Utilities) in 2020.

The Community Heat Pump Systems Program was launched in 2021, and the Large-Scale Thermal Program and Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) in 2024.

Prior to NYSERDA , Donovan spent over 25 years in the cable, media & entertainment industry working at HBO, Showtime Networks, and Black Entertainment Television (BET) and participated in the growth of the cable industry back in the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s.

Donovan’s interest is in implementing educational, market, business, and workforce development initiatives for scalable growth of clean energy solutions partnering with public, private, and academic institutions.

Donovan received a bachelor’s degree in business management from St. Francis College and a Master in Business Administration from NYU, Stern School of Business.

In 2013 Donovan was the Executive Director of the Long Island Geothermal Energy Organization and is a founding member of NY-GEO.
