Where Do Your Membership Dollars Go?
NY-GEO is dedicated to advancing the geothermal industry in New York through advocacy, education, and workforce development initiatives.
We have seen significant success recently, including the increase of GSHP tax credit from $5,000 to $10,000, which is now refundable to individuals with no tax liability. We also successfully advocated for legislation to allow borehole drilling greater than 500 feet.
Our legislative priorities for the 2026 session include:
- Expanding and extending the Geothermal Tax Credit
- Modernizing Geothermal Drilling Regulations
- Scaling Thermal Energy Networks (TENs)
- Creating a Geothermal Renewable Energy Credit (GREC) Market
Additionally, NY-GEO is hard at work seeking funding to support workforce development efforts via NYSERDA, NYPA, and the DOE to support GSHP accreditation training.
NY-GEO produces the Annual Conference which is one of the largest gatherings of GSHP professionals in the country.
In Summary, Membership Matters. Joining NY-GEO is an important step that benefits both your business and the greater GSHP industry.
Your membership will help you promote your business and connect with fellow geothermal professionals. Your membership also strengthens the collective voice of the GSHP industry in the clean energy movement. The more members we have, the more impact we can make.
