NY-GEO Welcomes New Board Members

Welcome New BOD Members

July 24, 2025 – The New York Geothermal Energy Organization (NY-GEO) is proud to announce the addition of five new members to its Board of Directors following a highly competitive nomination process. After receiving thirteen applications for two positions, the decision was made to expand the Board due to the exceptional caliber and diversity of the applicants. Strong leadership is essential to the success of any organization, and NY-GEO is thrilled to welcome these outstanding individuals to help guide its mission of advancing geothermal heat pump (GHP) and geothermal technologies in New York State.

I was incredibly impressed by the number of applicants for the open board seats, which made the selection process very challenging. Every applicant was highly qualified and a valuable asset to the board, making it difficult to narrow it down to just two individuals.

Ultimately, the current Board of Directors focused on areas where we needed the most support, including Policy, Training, and Engineering. Our industry is growing, and with it, the important work NY-GEO does to advance Ground Source Heat Pumps (GHP). Comments, NY-GEO BOD Nominating Committee Chair, Kevin Moravec

Please join us in welcoming the newest members of the NY-GEO Board of Directors:

  • Ryan Carda, Midwest Geothermal
  • Keith Hayes, Brightcore Energy
  • Kris Kyler, New York Geothermal Supply
  • Joe Parson, Climate Control Group
  • Dan Turner, Turner Engineering

NY-GEO President Jens Ponikau expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointments: "The strength of NY-GEO is based on its members and their desire to advance geothermal in New York State. We have seen significant growth in our sector, and with that growth comes the need to add value and diversity to the NY-GEO Board of Directors. Dan, Joe, Keith, Kris, and Ryan all bring a fresh voice to the NY-GEO mission."

With their extensive experience and expertise, the new Board members are well-positioned to contribute to NY-GEO’s efforts to grow the geothermal industry, develop its workforce, and educate policymakers and residents about the benefits of geothermal heat pumps. Their leadership will play a key role in advancing NY-GEO’s vision of driving mass adoption of ground-source (geothermal) heat pumps for residential, commercial, and utility-scale heating and cooling across New York State.
