2027 Field Day Site Tours

Field Day at NY-GEO 2027: See Geothermal in Action

Monday, April 26, 2027 | Saratoga Springs Hilton & City Center

Get out of the ballroom and into the field. NY-GEO 2027 starts a day early with a full day of hands-on activities. Before two days of keynotes, education, and exhibitor networking, you can stand in a loop field, walk a mechanical room, and watch a borehole go into the ground. Then wrap up the day at our brand-new Exhibitor Mixer.

Pick Your Adventure (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Three experiences run at the same time. Choose one when you register, and register early, because space is limited. What to expect:

  • Geothermal Site Tours: See real ground source heat pump systems working in real buildings. Our guides take you behind the scenes, from loop fields to mechanical rooms to controls, and you'll hear straight from the people who designed and built them. Stops and routes will be announced as they're confirmed.
  • Drilling Demonstration: Watch a geothermal borehole come to life. Get up close as the crew drills, sets the pipe, and grouts. It's a great fit if you're newer to the drilling side of geothermal, or if you just love big equipment.
  • NYISO Tour: Go inside the New York Independent System Operator and see where geothermal fits in New York's grid and energy future.

Good to Know

Cost: Site Tours are a $100 add-on to your conference registration.

Included: Transportation, snacks, water, and a box lunch. Just show up ready to explore.

Gear up (PPE): We provide a hard hat, safety vest, eyewear, and ear protection. You're welcome to bring your own.

Dress for the site: We'll be visiting active work sites, so  long pants and closed-toe, hard-sole shoes that cover your whole foot are required.

Timing: Activities run 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Monday, April 26, the day before general sessions open on April 27.
