Once completed, 1 Java in Greenpoint Brooklyn, which is an all-electric residential property, will be the largest residential project in New York State to use a geothermal heat exchange. the geothermal system at 1 Java Street will reduce annual carbon emissions from heating and cooling by 53% compared with typical residential systems.
This project has received $4M under NYSERDA PON 4614 and $4.6M in a Con Edison Clean Heat Incentive.

Set to become New York City’s first geothermal powered hotel. The 96,000-square-foot, eight-story hotel will include 160 rooms, a rooftop pool, a restaurant and a health and wellness facility.

The first high-rise project in NYC to install a geothermal system. This project is complete and participants in the tour will be able to see an operating geothermal system including advance controls, vertical stack heat pumps in apartments, and a R744 (C02) domestic hot water system. This project was supported by a $1.6M award under NYSERDA PON 4614 and $2.9M in a Con Edison Clean Heat Incentive.

Campus infrastructure was upgraded with a seamless insertion of sustainable systems, including a state-of-the-art geothermal heating and cooling system.
The entire project was conducted while the Cathedral remained open for daily masses, welcoming the five million visitors who pass through its doors annually.
